Community Bank secures long-term naming rights to Narrandera Cup

In terrific news that solidifies Narrandera Racing Club’s (NRC) future and commitment to racing in Narrandera and the Southern Districts, Community Bank Narrandera & District has enhanced its sponsorship of the club.

Agreeing to a three-year deal, Community Bank Narrandera & District has won the naming rights to the 2024, 2025, and 2026 Community Bank Narrandera Cups and will be recognised as the NRC’s major sponsor.

NRC president Graeme Mathieson believes Community Bank Narrandera & District’s agreement and support say a lot about his club’s excellent work in recent seasons.

“It’s just fantastic news and a terrific result for Narrandera Race Club,” Mr Mathieson said.

“It shows a lot of confidence in our racing club and racing in Narrandera.”

Mr Mathieson and his committee look forward to collaborating with the Community Bank Narrandera & District team over the next few years.

“We’re pleased to have the three-year commitment locked away, especially as it is a community-based bank backing another community organisation,” Mr Mathieson said.

“Sue (Foley) has already suggested some great ideas, and I’m confident we will work closely with them. It will be a great partnership.”

NRC racing manager Michael Bailey was equally excited to have the deal sealed. He touched on the benefits to both organisations and the Narrandera community.

“Narrandera Race Club is very much looking forward to working with Community Bank Narrandera & District to promote its business, our town, and the Narrandera Race Club on the local, national, and international stage,” Mr Bailey said.

“We have had a successful run during recent wet years thanks to extra meetings from clubs unable to race.

“The club’s facilities are open for community use, and our financial returns have been and will continue to be invested in improving the facility and making it ready for the next 50 years.”

Community Bank Narrandera & District board member Sue Foley explained they have long supported the NRC and that this level of sponsorship would help them ‘enhance and enlarge’ their visual profile.

“While these changes have morphed over the last two years, with great success, we wish to promote, extend, and reinforce our business profile,” Mrs Foley said.

“We identified the NRC as an ideal synergy. The NRC volunteers are a successful and well-run organisation that produces some of the best race days in our local region every year.

“The community benefits from their work; the businesses benefit from their work, the accommodation houses benefit from their work, as do many not-for-profits, by manning the entry gate and selling programmes, benefit from their work.”

With Community Bank Narrandera & District entering its 20th year, Foley and her fellow board members believe it is the perfect time to throw further support behind the NRC, as well as the many other not-for-profit organisations they support in Narrandera and surrounds.

“We believe that we are now able to be a major sponsor for an organisation that we have always supported and recognised, but not at this level,” Mrs Foley said.

“We see it as one group of volunteers supporting another group of volunteers. Narrandera is a volunteer town, and at some point, it is a matter of making it all go around.

“Community Bank Narrandera & District’s goal is to support the community and to reinvest where we can assist and make improvements for our community.

“Over the last twenty years, so many have benefitted from our involvement and sponsorship, and as we grow, so does our ability to do more.

“We are very proud to be connected to such a successful organisation and are also very grateful to have the opportunity to hold the major sponsorship for the 2024 – 2026 years.”

The 2024 Community Bank Narrandera Cup date has been confirmed. The $60,000 Big Dance qualifying event will be run and won on Sunday, July 14.

With over $280,000 in prizemoney on offer on the day, along with many local and visiting racegoers making the trip to Narrandera Racecourse, it’s set to be an economic boon for the community.

For now, the NRC is preparing to kick off its winter racing season on Saturday, June 15, for the club’s L.W. Peacock Memorial Race Day.
