Don’t worry about The Kosciuszko, Everest or Caulfield Cup on Saturday, Narromine Turf Club is where all the action will be, with the running of the time-honoured, Dandy Cup.
The 1200m Benchmark 66 Handicap looks an action-packed race that will headline a strong eight-race country card.
In the feature race, if William Freedman decides to bring Ang Pow here, he will take some beating.
He has registered 2 wins from 2 starts, the latest being a 2.6L win of ‘The Barb’, a BM58 at Bathurst, although he is also nominated for a couple races at Bathurst on Friday.
I had Gadfly in my top 2 last start in a BM66 on Coonamble Cup day, and I going to have him again. He over raced there a touch but I like Brett Thompson dropping him back down to 1200m (30:6-5-1) and the last time over this trip, he ran 5 lengths off the impressive Ang Pow.
Thompson saddles up another three runners with Larynx lurking in the emergencies.
All Hollywood rises up to the 1200m (4:1-0-1), and she is second up (3:1-0-0) after a solid 5th (2.8 lengths) in the Denman Dash last start.
The last of his runners being Denace, which is nominated for a race on Friday.
She has had a couple of runs this prep on heavy tracks, winning on resumption by half a length before running 4th (2.2 lengths) behind a couple rivals.
Those rivals being Andrew Malloy’s, Mornay, who was tough in that race but couldn’t quite reel in the leader; she should strip fitter second up (4:1-0-0).
There was also Alison Smith’s, Panuara, which held 3rd there but he never looked like getting to the first two.
He has since contested a BM66 at Dubbo where he disappointed for 8th (6 lengths).
Clint Lundholm’s Fearless Mila comes out of that Panuara race at Dubbo; however, she was very good despite being slow away.
She finished off nicely for 4th (0.9 lengths) and I think she could run a race here.
