Forbes ready for social explosion

The Forbes Spring Races 2018 fashions on the field winners.

The Forbes Spring Races will go much farther than your typical race meeting this Saturday with up to 2000 locals expected to walk through the gates.
The October 12 meeting is one of the more popular spring meetings on the Racing NSW Country and Picnic racing calendar and offers all walks of life a unique social experience.
Forbes Jockey Club vice president Tom Molloy is confident it will continue to get bigger and better.
“It has become a really big event in the last couple of years and continues to grow,” he said.
“We have seen 1500-2000 people walk through the last two years.
The meeting offers fashion fans a very generous $3000 in cash and prizes across five sections with kids, women and men all catered for.
Add to that, there are packages on offer for a restricted upstairs area that is sure to add to an already great race day experience.
The six-race-program will appeal to punters and racing fans and has attracted some nice types with the meeting to be aired on Sky 2.
The feature event on the day is the Lachlan Readymix Forbes Spring Cup, an 1100m sprint that has 10 runners engaged.
The Cup race will be a good betting affair with popular runners Satan Da, Dead Reckoning and Mr Swift all vying for favouritism.
The Forbes meeting has even lured Canberra trainer Todd Smart Racing, who will make the trip with High Street; the five-year-old is drawn to jump from gate 4 in the 1600m Benchmark 58 Handicap.
