Danni Schreck will be looking to win back-to-back Inverell Sporties Goodwood Cups on Monday, with Supreme Harmony taking on the Boxing Day feature race at their home track of Inverell

It will be a family affair, with Schreck’s husband Scott Sweedman riding Supreme Harmony in the 1200m Benchmark 58 Handicap, and the Inverell trainer believes her nine-year-old is more than capable of winning the race again.

“He is going okay, and he is full of spirit. He is one of those horses that loves to get back and run his own race, and I think it depends on how the track is going to play,” Schreck said.

“Plus, if it is too hard, he won’t like that too much, and we are hoping we get a little bit of rain.

“He is a chance, and if everything goes his way, he is a good old horse, and he can definitely win it.”

The winner of six races has been a good country performer, and he will be a popular pick for locals on what will be a big day for Inverell.

“With Supreme Harmony, I bought him to get Scott a few rides, and he was in work in town, but he didn’t like it much at the track,” Schreck said.

“He was never naughty but wasn’t happy, but now we are out at our place, he is full of cheek, and he is getting on about like a teenage boy and hopefully he can run a good race for everyone.”

Now training out of town, Schreck’s team is enjoying the tree-change.

“I am absolutely loving it. We are 20 kilometres out of town, and it keeps us busy and on our toes and fit and healthy,” Schreck said,

“We put a track in there, and a pool and we have about 120 acres.”

Schreck has been training for a couple of years now, and her first starter was Teyssier at Glen Innes on January 9, 2021, while she prepared her first winner on March 20, 2021, with Frivolosophy emerging victorious at her home track.

In fact, Frivolosophy was only just sent to be bred with, which was an emotional decision for Schreck and Sweedman.

“I love my horses and it was sad to see Frivolosophy move on this week,” Schreck said.

“She has gone down to Coolmore. Scott said she is going to the penthouse, and they have sent me photos, and while it was hard to see her move on, it is really lovely to see her in a good place.

“She is going out for a little while, and then they will bring her in and start breeding her.”

On Monday, connections will hope to land another win at home, and while Supreme Harmony contests the Goodwood Cup, Sweedman will also ride Wandjinapine in the 1200m Maiden Plate and Full Dosage in the 1050m Maiden Plate.

As far as the meeting, there will be free entry until 12.30pm, along with fashions on the field, full bar, kiosk, and TAB facilities, local bookmakers, and after the races there will be a DJ entertaining the crowd.

“It’s the big social day for the town and it is so good for Inverell,” Schreck said.

“The Boxing Day meeting is like a big reunion, and a good chance for everyone to see their family on Christmas and friends on Boxing Day, and everyone I’ve spoken to is really looking forward to it.”
