Thoroughbred Park gets behind community clubs

Thoroughbred Park will host their Community Club race day on Friday.

Thoroughbred Park will be doing their part to recognise hard-working community club volunteers at their Community Club race day on Friday, June 18.

Last month, the club asked the public to nominate deserving local community club volunteers who had given up countless hours of their time to keep clubs running, offering up naming rights and a free day at the races.

The response was outstanding, with Thoroughbred Park reieving almost 200 nominations that represented 21 clubs from all over Canberra and surrounds.

The lucky winners were Victoria Thompson of Belconnen Magpies Football Club, Logan Hareb of Belwest Foxes Soccer Club Inc. and Ian Baker of the Queanbeyan Roos.

These lucky three patrons will now attend the races, and will be supplied with $200 worth of food and beverages, along with their club being given naming rights to a race on the day.

Thoroughbred Park isn’t stopping their either, with prizes up for grabs for those patrons wearing their club colours on the day.

For those on track, or watching from at home, there is also a chance to win $41,000 in their tipping competition.

Gates to Friday’s meeting opens at 11.55am, with entry to the racecourse free, and punters can get an inside look at the racing and maybe find a winner or two by clicking here
